CanYouHack: Azerbaijan's CTF Platform Built for the Future

Since December, I’ve been working day and night on a project I can finally share publicly: CanYouHack.

Why I Built CanYouHack

My main goal is to help accelerate the growth of cybersecurity in Azerbaijan and take Jeopardy-style CTF competitions to a higher level — while making the entire process as simple as possible for both participants and organizers.

The platform includes a complete system for:
- challenge and event creation
- a powerful admin panel
- leaderboards
- a full writeup system
Key advantages

ZIP-based deployment for challenge servers

For each challenge, dedicated HTTP or TCP servers can be deployed by simply uploading a ZIP file, saving a lot of time on the technical side.

Public and private events with deep configuration

Organizers can create both public and private events and configure every detail through the admin panel.
People who want to run small CTFs can do it without dealing with extra CTFd configuration — they can directly use the platform.

Medium-style writeups + runnable code blocks

Writeups are designed in a Medium-style layout with Markdown support. In addition, code blocks can be run directly in the browser, making learning more interactive.

Import from CTFd backups

If you previously hosted events on CTFd, you can upload the CTFd backup file, and CanYouHack will automatically import all challenges into the platform.

Teams and detailed profiles

Participants can create teams, invite members, and track activity. Profiles include essential details to monitor performance and progress.

Go backend for performance

CTFd is built with a Python backend and often feels slow under load.
CanYouHack’s backend is written fully in Go (Golang) for better performance and scalability.

Ongoing development and community support

I’m actively improving the platform, and anyone interested is welcome to join and test it.

For the very first time in Azerbaijan’s history, an International Jeopardy-style Capture The Flag (CTF) competition was successfully organized by N3XT_L3V3L.

Medal Win at ICO2025: Azerbaijan Cyber Security Team Journey

✨🇦🇿 WE RETURNED HOME WITH MEDALS! 🇦🇿✨ From June 22 to 28, we had the honor of representing Azerbaijan at the International Cybersecurity Olympiad (ICO2025) held in Singapore. Competing under the team name “N3XT L3V3L”, we proudly brought home 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medals! 🥈🥈🥉 This prestigious event gathered 136 students from 28 countries, and our team achieved outstanding results: 🏅 Abdulla Abdullazade (10th-grade student, School No. 6, Laki settlement, Agdash district) – Silver Medal 🏅 Sumuraz Mirzayev (10th-grade student, Ruslan Muradov Technical and Humanitarian Lyceum, Mingachevir city) – Silver Medal 🏅 Aliyyakbar Shirinli (11th-grade student, Bilal Aliyev Secondary School, Xolmili village, Lankaran district) – Bronze Medal We are sincerely grateful to our dedicated mentors whose support and hard work played a key role in this achievement:

Speaking from my own experience — on the first day of the competition, I climbed to 4th place in the overall ranking and was very close to winning a gold medal. Unfortunately, on the second day, I faced unexpected technical issues with the Ubuntu operating system and had to switch to Windows 10. This sudden change caused difficulties in a critical challenge, and I lost 40 points — even though the task I was working on was worth at least 45 points. Despite this, I secured a Silver Medal and proudly represented my country on the international stage. 💻🌐 This success would not have been possible without the professionalism, effort, and unwavering support of our teachers. I congratulate my teammates and promise to give my all in future competitions to achieve even greater victories for our nation! 🚀🇦🇿 Together we are stronger — and we are moving confidently toward the future! 🚀
Cyber Security ICO2025 Azerbaijan Team Selection

Azerbaijan’s Representation at Cyber Security ICO2025

We recently participated in the international selection exam for the Cyber Security ICO2025 among RFO finalists. Initially, one participant was selected. Due to six participants scoring the same points, a second selection round was held today. After this round, three more participants were chosen, forming a four-member team.

After the examination process, our team was finalized under the supervision of our mentor, Parviz Nasirov, who played a crucial role in our success. I am thrilled to announce that I am one of the selected participants who will represent Azerbaijan in Singapore.

A special thanks to Parviz Nasirov and Roman Tolstosheyev for their continuous support and guidance. We believe that with their help, we will achieve great success.
